Room accommodation

The rooms and suites at the Kempinski Hotel Das Tirol are very special: furnished with an array of local materials such as wood and brightly coloured loden and leather, they offer ample space as well as breathtaking views. Our 120 superior and deluxe double rooms, 13 junior suites and 22 suites are modern and striking yet at the same time cosy and homely. The penthouse suite is definitely the highlight of the hotel: a total of 520 sqm in size, it offers plenty of space for up to ten people. Three roof terraces ensure splendid views of the surrounding mountains. It is the largest penthouse of any hotel in Tyrol. The superior and deluxe rooms measure 36 sqm and are furnished in a traditional style. Warm colours and yellows dominate the design. Every room has a balcony with views of the Schützkogel or Wurzhöhe peaks. Thanks to the large panorama windows, guests can enjoy stunning views of the snow-capped mountains from their king size bed or from twin beds. The bathroom is a room in a room and separated by glass walls. It is a little spa with a bathtub and separate shower just a few steps away from your bed. Clear-cut lines, exciting colours and luxurious relaxation await. Our classic junior suites measure 44 sqm while the deluxe junior suites offer even more comfort at 55 sqm. The deluxe suite, at 80 sqm, wins over guests not only with its two bathrooms but also with its kitchenette and small dining area. The family suite offers 88 sqm of floor space, including two separate bedrooms and a spacious living room, plus an additional place to sleep and is the best choice for perfect holidays with the entire family. The Tirol and Jochberg suites are designed in the style of mountain lodges – they are individually furnished and offer some surprises as well as 105 to 220 sqm of space to fit from two to six people. With earthy colours, classic leather sofas and an open fireplace, these suites are traditional and elegant yet still unique.

The absolute highlight of the Kempinski Hotel Das Tirol is the penthouse suite with its five bedrooms and four bathrooms. Impressive and polished flooring and distinctive furniture made from Tyrolean wood give a true taste of an Alpine lifestyle. The contemporary, stylish and chic design is created by a combination of leather and loden, felt and glass and light and airy rooms. Guests are bound to love their time in a total of 520 sqm of living area in addition to three sun terraces that are over 500 sqm in size. The latest gadgets come as standard in all rooms and suites. Guests have free access to wireless Internet in the entire hotel and can therefore stay in contact with business partners from the desks provided in every room. A flat-screen TV, a DVD player, a room safe and a mini bar also come as standard.

Activities and leisure

THE BEST-EQUIPPED SKI AREA There are 54 different ways to go up the mountains: ten cable cars, 26 chair lifts, 14 drag lifts and four conveyer belts. Ski facilities include 215 km of groomed slopes on a surface of 690 hectares, comprised of 69 km of blue runs, 77 km of red runs and 24 km of black runs, or, in other words, 22 easy, 25 intermediate and 13 difficult slopes. There are also 32 km of offpiste slopes, one snow park, and terrain for ski touring and snowboarding as far as the eye can see.

An Action-Packed Snow Park An exciting park for all levels, the snow park at the Hanglalm is a paradise for daredevil snowboarders or free skiers, featuring one tree line, 16 boxes, eight kickers, eight special jibs, three rails, acrobatics areas, jumps and much more to kick-start one’s adrenaline. Who needs to go all the way to Canada? Breath-Taking Ski Tours The first ski touring guidebook is already more than 100 years old but the beauty of the country and its fascination with ski tours have not changed. All the routes are signposted, including the Schützkogel Mountain, with its stunning view of the surrounding mountains, the Stuckkogel Mountain, which is perfect for late ski tours and the Brechhorn Mountain, with its fantastic slopes which all come highly recommended. Don’t forget to check the avalanche risk at www.lawine.tirol.gv.at.

Endless Cross-Country Skiing There are 60 km of cross-country trails available for classic cross-country skiers or skaters. These trails are lit and well-covered with snow and located on the golf course or higher up the mountain. The trail of the Kitzbühel-Schwarzsee-Reith golf club is in fact the place where the Austrian national team trains. The trail is 7 km long and partly lit. Shorter and more varied trails can be found at the Kitzbüheler Horn Mountain and Thurn Pass, at 1,600 and 1,274 metres above sea level. These trails cater for all tastes and are accessible via cable car or ski bus. As if that weren’t enough, there are over 500 km of trails around Kitzbühel, Wilder Kaiser, in the Brixen valley and at Pass Thurn – these are for aficionados and don’t have extreme gradients or downhill runs.

Winter Wonderland Walk Snow crystals, unspoiled landscapes, silence (except for hiking boots crunching in the snow), slow movements - walking through the snow is quite an experience. Whether with a guide, in a group or on your own, on designated paths or in deep powder wearing your snowshoes, during the day, at sunset or in the moonlight, at the summit, going uphill or down in the valley – wherever, whenever and however one is doing it, taking a hike in the snow is great fun. If you manage three hikes, you will get a special hiking award.

High-Potential Location The area has been home to World Cups, international meetings and corporate events and offers facilities for tobogganing, ice hockey, curling, ice skating, snow polo, climbing, tennis, swimming, shooting and more. Actually, there’s nothing one can’t find, and if there is, it will be imported and tried out. Or invented.

Romantic Huts The ski area is big and the food is very tasty. There are 56 huts offering solid traditional home cooking. If you’re looking for romantic and rustic huts, the place between Hahnenkamm and Resterhöhe is ideal.

Good Mood Après Ski For one mile in Kitzbühel, the “ski area” for the Après stretches from the bottom of the Hahnenkamm to the cosy historic old town. A shot, a beer, a glass of wine, a cocktail and a cheerful mood are all on offer. The same is true at Andis Schirmbar, a bar which is located at the Wagstätt bottom station of the ski lift in Jochberg. That’s how a day in the snow is supposed to end!

Inspiring Places People may or may not believe in places of power; places with a certain charisma that give people energy. It is known in Carinthia, and also in Tyrol, that the Kitzbühler Horn is one such special place and home to a chapel. The places of power are found at the summit – along with an unimpeded 360-degree view and the former summit station of the lift at the Steinbergkogel Mountain. It is only a short walk in the snow but it gives one a very special feeling.
