Unique selling points
The design of
the Shanghai JW Marriott Marquis unifies the
interior and exterior, architecture and landscape.
The integral nature of the design is a
crucial element in creating the inspiring guest
experience that begins before
guests set foot inside
the building.
The
walls of the Port Cochere encircles the hotel entrance and
guides guests through it. An undulating glass entry frames the day lit Atrium and welcomes the guests. The
distinctive character that defines the façade is carried through into the
building’s interior. A striking, three dimensionally sculpted wall extends the
full height of the atrium.
The
dramatic central Atrium, which serves as the nexus of the guest
experience, creates a dramatic grandeur of scale that promotes a sense of
relaxation and serenity through the creative application of light, color,
and texture. Gently curved atrium walls, together with a fully glazed facade at
either side, creates a strong axis and reinforces the uninterrupted view
from the street towards the river and the.
Bund beyond.
The
programmatic functions are arranged in two free standing spines along the main
axis. The spines are designed in solid stone as an anchor within the grand
volume. They amplify the continuity of the arrival sequence and leverage the
relationship to the Huangpu River. They are dressed with inlays of polished
metals, delicate fabrics and patterns to portray the sense of luxury that the
JW Brand is about. A grand arrangement of magnolia blossoms, a flower that
signifies Shanghai, on a sculpted metal display creates a focal point within
the Atrium and ties the
lobby to the park beyond.
Meeting facilities
The
hotel also offers unparalleled spaces for hosting meetings, incentives,
conferences and events (MICE) in Shanghai. With twelve multifunctional event
rooms including the column-free Junior Marquis and Grand Marquis ballrooms, the
spaces can be divided into individually customized spaces with separate
entrances to suit every requirement.
Between the Marquis 1 and 2 meeting rooms, a glass partition can be
switched from opaque to transparent, providing many unique possibilities for
the use of the rooms, such as live culinary theater or other events that will
leave spectacular lasting impressions.
