Access and location
The InterContinental Kunming is located at the center of
National Tourism Area of Dianchi, next to Dianchi Lake, just 20 minutes drive to the city center and 40
minutes to Kunming Changshui International Airport.
The hotel is surrounded by several scenic venues and
attractions, it is in the best location for both business and leisure.
Surroundings
Kunming is China's
first state-level historical and cultural city. It serves as Yunnan's
political, economic, cultural and technological center, and is an important
transportation hub for travel in far southwest China. With its location along a
south-facing mountain slope, Kunming enjoys a generally mild climate as the
“City of Eternal Spring,” beloved by both locals and visitors. Kunming is the
home for a number of places of interest and scenic spots, such as the Stone Forest, Yunnan Ethnic Village, West
Mountain Forest Park etc.
- West Mountain:
Located by the west shore of Dianchi Lake, 15 km away
from downtown, it was called the “Jade Rooster” mountain in the past. There are
various kinds of plants on the mountain, making it “The Most Beautiful Land in
Middle of Dian”. The scenic zone mainly consists of three areas: Huating Temple, Taihua Temple and the
Dragon Gate and Sanqing Pavilion. Once standing on the top of West Mountain,
the whole Dianchi Lake is beneath your eyes.
The West Mountain is less than 8 km away from the hotel,
and it takes only 15 mins’ drive to get there.
- Yunnan Ethnic Village:
A 4A-grade national tourist attraction
situated on the shore of Dianchi Lake, the park is a window to show the different
cultures and traditions of the 25 minorities in Yunnan, with well ranged ethnic
architectures and lake-land ecotone. Tourists could not only experience the unique features
of each minority’s architecture, costume and culture but can also taste
authentic ethnic cuisines. There is a
cableway in the park linked directly to the Dragon Gate of the West Mountain.
The distance between the hotel and the
village is 2.4 km, and it takes 7 mins by car and 15 mins on foot to get
there.
- Ancient Guandu Town:
Situated at
southeast Kunming, the Ancient Guandu Town has a very long history and has been considered as
the origin of the Dian Culture. It has already been an important transportation
hub and market since Nanzhao Period. A number of scenic points from Tang, Song,
Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties are all gathered within this area. Besides, tourists can enjoy delicious local snacks
there.
The town is around 12 km from the hotel, and a drive of
15 – 20 mins
is needed to get there.

Dounan Flower Market
:
Located in Dounan Village of Chenggong,
Kunming, Dounan Flower Market shares a big fame around the country. It is the heart of
domestic flower trading as well as one of the biggest flower markets in the
world. Tourists will find an amazing sea of flowers in the trading hall.
The distance between the hotel and the market is about
19 km, it takes 30 mins to get there by car.

The stone Forest in
Kunming is famous for its styled stones. It is one of the “Four Natural
Wonders” in China. Moreover, it is the only karst landform at subtropical plateau and is also named the

It is 94 km far
from hotel, and it takes 1.5 hours to drive there.

them a vertical karst landscape as a whole. Moreover, as one of the biggest karst cave systems in
China, Jiuxiang has more than hundreds of karst caves.

between the hotel and Jiuxiang is around 105 km, and 2 hours driving is needed.
